Find out if dentures could be the restoration to get you back your smile.

While losing a tooth can be stressful, losing all of your teeth can be one of the hardest things to happen to your smile. Before you feel defeated, know that your Syracuse, NY dentists, Dr. Karen Lawitts, are here to help give you a new smile, no Denturesmatter your budget. Find out more about dentures and if they could be the best option for replacing your missing teeth.

What kinds of dentures are available?

Dentures are designed to replace all or most of your teeth. Those that are used to replace all of your teeth are called complete dentures and rest on the gums.

Dentures that only replace some of your teeth are known as partial dentures. They too will rest above the jawbone on the gums. Some partial dentures may have attachments to hold them in place, while denture adhesive is often recommended for holding complete dentures.

You can also opt for implant-supported dentures. With this option, your Syracuse, NY general dentist will place several implants into the jawbone to stabilize and support a full or partial set of dentures.

Are dentures the best choice for me?

If you have lost most or all of your natural teeth due to injury, decay, or gum disease then you could be a likely candidate for dentures. One reason they are so popular is that they are the least expensive tooth replacement option. So no matter your budget, dentures may work with what you can pay.

Also, instead of opting for implants--which can take up to a year or more to complete--you can get dentures in only a couple of visits. The speed and price tag that comes with getting dentures is one of the major reasons many people choose them.

If you decide you want implant-supported dentures we will also need to make sure that you have enough healthy jawbone left to support your implants. You should also have good general and oral health and be free of disease. Those with suppressed immune system or uncontrolled health issues may not be right for implants.

Want to learn more about dentures and how they can help you? We would be happy to sit down and talk to you about this restoration when you schedule a consultation with us. Turn to our Syracuse, NY dental team for all of your restorative, general, and cosmetic needs.
